Digital raster graphic (DRG) files are digitized versions of the paper topographic maps and can be downloaded for free or purchased on CD. These DRGs are saved as 8-bit color-indexed TIFs (LZW compressed) and are approximately 250 ppi when sized to match the paper maps. Each file is 4-11 MB in size and will expand to approximately 35 MB in memory. Because of the size, files to be downloaded are zipped. Each zipped file is approximately 2-4 MB in size. Collared DRGs include border and legends. Seamless DRGs do not have collars and can be tiled together to create a continuous view.
